Forming

Cast copper can be very easily formed into all types of semi-finished products such as sheet, strip, tube, bar, wire as well as die and open die forgings due to its excellent forming capacity. Sheet, strip, tube, bar and wire are produced through formats such as rolling ingots, billets, etc. Semi-finished copper products (except wire) are almost never produced directly from the molten state. However, the “formats” can be close in dimensions to the final dimension. Non-cutting shaping processes are used not only for the production of semi-finished copper products but also for the production of components with a shape close to the final dimension. Components of entangled shape can be produced, for example, by extrusion, sintering of copper powder or by galvanoplastic processes.
