Copper in upward trend

The German copper industry recorded production growth of six percent in 2021 compared to the weak previous year, to 1.5 million tonnes. Among them, the production of cast copper alloys increased significantly by 23 percent to 31,000 tonnes. The largest sector, the production of semi-finished products made of copper and copper alloys, was also very dynamic in 2021 with growth of twelve percent compared to 2020 to 849,000 tonnes, although growth was still slowed down in half of the companies at the end of last year due to a lack of capacity and material shortages. The production of semi-finished copper conductive material increased by two percent to 632,000 tonnes and the output of powder by 19 percent to 17,000 tonnes in the same period.
