In contrast to many other materials, copper is suitable for all areas of application in domestic installations thanks to its broad spectrum of properties: copper is not only used for drinking water and heating pipes; especially when there are high safety requirements, such as in gas supply, or when there are exceptional temperature stresses, such as in solar installations, copper is now almost exclusively used as a material for supply pipes in buildings. Other arguments in favour of using copper are its easy workability and the almost unlimited compatibility of the individual components with each other.

Copper forms its own protective layer. With its patina, it also fully develops its design quality during the ageing process.
